We're Homeowners!!!
April 6th, we closed on our first house.
It's an awesome split level in a great neighborhood. I am still digging around to find some pictures from when we first moved in (before the wedding planning Tazmanian Devil came flying through)... once I find them, I will add them to this page.

Our First "Lowe's" Project
I just had to brag for a second about our first project. I realllllly wanted to add some cafe lights around our back deck, but we didn't have anything to hang them from. So... hubby and I bought a bunch of wooden posts from Lowe's and some "C" shaped brackets. We attached the C brackets to the railing on the deck (one on top, one on bottom), painted the posts to match our deck and fed them through the C brackets. I used screw in hooks at the top of the posts and the strung the lights up through the hooks.
Voila.
Cafe de Songbird Lane!!!
*Bonus, we can also take out the posts and put umbrellas or tiki torches in them. Yay!!!

Fall on Songbird Lane
I pulled up the random bushes and plants that lined the front of the house and planted some dark red mums.
We also visited a local pumpkin patch and used lots and lots of pumpkins to decorate the front of the house. Now, we are ready for fall!

One room at a time... the upstairs bathroom
When we moved in, this bathroom was sort of a yellow-y color. I was not in love with it, but wasn't completely sure what color I wanted to go with.
One day while browsing around Lowes, I decided to check the "oops paint" shelf... you know, the paint that people buy and then return because I don't like the color. Every Home Depot and Lowes has an oops paint shelf and they sell the paint for 1/2 price... if you are looking for a new color, but aren't committed to anything yet and don't want to spend a ton of money, it's definitely worht checking out!
So... I picked up this really great blue oops paint and thought it would be perfect for the bathroom. We wanted to keep a clean look, so we went with white towels and shower curtain and found a rug with the exact same color blue and a hint of dark brown. Love!
